TOP TEN REASONS WHY WASHINGTON

CONSTRUCTION LIENS SUCK

If you are considering a lien as a way to get paid for your construction work, you may want to think again. Here are the top ten reasons why liens suck.

1. Rigid timing and notice requirements.

2. You must be a registered contractor.

3. The owner can bond around the lien.

4. They expire in 8 months.

5. If there are other liens, you better be first in line.

6. Owners know you won’t foreclose.

7. Expensive to enforce.

8. Big consequences if you do it wrong.

9. Slow process.

10. You will need a lawyer to enforce it.
